V8 Dirt Modified

VICTORIAN TITLE 2nd February '08

The Victorian Title was held at Avalon on the 2nd February. Aaron had two strong heat results and found himself coming of the fourth row in the final. He had made up several places when our right rear tyre started to deflate. He managed to challenge four 4th place but with the tyre deflating quickly decided not to pass, the car was very demading to drive and he didn't want to damaged the car in front of him. The tyre eventually blew with 3 laps to go. Our next meeting is the Australian Title at Warrnambool.

AUSTRALIAN TITLE

The Australian Title is always and exciting weekend. We travelled to Warrnambool's Sungold Stadium full of confidence. Friday nights heats were a great start to the weekend. Saturday night Aaron cemented a start out of 9 in the Final with a great 2nd in a heat loaded with heavy hitters. The final started well with Aaron moving into 5th position fairly quickly, with 6 laps on the clock the car was going back through the field, it seemed we had a tyre problem, which was very disappointing. The car had absolutely no drive but Aaron managed to finish the final in 11th place. Our next meeting at Avalon will be the last for this season. We are hoping for a better result.

Avalon International Speedway 18th January '08

We raced at Avalon International Speedway on Friday 18th Jan with Aaron placing 4th in both his heats. He came out of 3 in the Final and came 2nd. Our next meeting will be on February 2nd at Avalon for the Victorian Title. The team has had some very good results in the past weeks and are hoping for a good result.

Summer Slam - Warrnambool 13th January '08

We were on the road again for the 3rd round of the Summer Slam at Warrnambools Sungold Stadium. Aarons came out of 9 in his first heat to finish 5th. His second heat was sensational, he came of 2 and won the heat by over half a lap, in what was a confidence building win. With a 3rd row start in the A dash Aaron had the race of his career with former national champion Mark Robinson. It was a pleasure to watch the two run side by side for 5 of the 6 laps with Aaron the eventual winner of this encounter. The team was absolutely estactic, this gave us a front row start in the A Main beside current Australian Champion Tim Morse. Aaron lead the final for 2 laps until the cars of Morse and Robinson overtook him, these cars have motors that are at least 100 horsepower more than our motor, so to compete the way he did was a credit to Aaron and his crew for the amazing transformation. He ran for ten laps in third postion until contact with another competitor saw him spin out and was forced to the rear of field for being primary cause of the stoppage. It was then elbows up for Aaron, he then drove his heart out to eventually finish 9th. The team was very pleased and excited with the overall result.

Our next meeting is Frdiay night the 18th January at Avalon International Speedway, where we hope to continue the great form.

Summer Slam - Parramatta 8th December '07

The team travelled to Parramatta on the 8th December for the second round of the National Summer Slam series. Aaron had trouble with his tear off's in the first heat after being sprayed with mud, Sydney had had an enormous amount of rain that week, and the infield and pole line were extremely wet, after sorting out the problem he went on to come 6th in the heat. His second heat was a little better where he also came 6th. After starting on the back row of the final he drove a fantastic race to eventually finish 6th. The team was thrilled with his patience and determination, on what was a very demanding track.

Avalon 10th November '07

Aaron had a fantastic night in the round of the Summer Slam National Series. He came out of 2 and came second in his first heat, out of 8 to 4th in his second heat. He made the A Dash out of 4. He started out of 5 in the final and was having a fantastic race until the current National champion Tim Morse decided he wanted Aaron's piece of the track and took him out, not once but twice. We were not impressed. Unfortunately we broke a steering arm and could not continue.

Summer Slam - Warrnambool 13th January '07

The team travelled to Warrnambool for the third round of the Summer Slam on January 13th. After a consistant run at Avalon, Aaron was well prepared for the very fast Warrnambool track. His first heat saw him come out of 8 and run some very fine lap times to finish 5th in this heat. The second heat saw him coming out of 1, he a South Australian Glen Goonan diced for front position for 7 laps with Aaron leading the way only to wash up in turn two and allow Goonan to take the heat win and Aaron to run a very impressive 2nd. The third heat Aaron came out of 4 and finished 5th after spinning out and having to go rear of field.

Having completed some very impressive heats Aaron was on pole for the B Dash, which was a race of elimination he managed to finish 3rd.

The final saw Aaron coming out of position 9, and after a fairly rough start to the race he spun the car in turn 2 and was sent rear of field. With 26 laps to complete Aaron decided to run the high line and drove a sensational final to finish in 11th position. The team was ecstatic with this performance. Our next outing will be the Australian Title at Murray Bridge in February.

Avalon International Raceway 16th December '06

The car was great, came out of 8 to second in the first heat came 3rd in the 2nd , came off the front row in the final and we broke a left hand rear shocker which mad the car impossible to drive but he still finished in 5th.

Summer Slam - Avalon International Raceway 18th November '06

Hot Laps for the Vic 29 car were fantastic, the car was great, new engine was excellent.

First Heat saw Aaron coming out of 3 with fellow Victorians Tony Moore and Steve Milthorpe on the front row. The stewards deemed both the front cars to have broken the start, which put Aaron and fellow Victorian Kevin Weekes on the front row. Aaron had a brilliant start to the race and held out former Australian champion Mark Robinson for several laps before brake failure saw the 29 car hit the turn one wall, ride the concrete fence before coming to and end on its roof in turn two. All importantly Aaron climbed from the car uninjured, but the car was unable to continue the night as the roll cage was damaged. The car is now being repaired and will return to Avalon Raceway for the 16th December.

Avalon International Raceway 4th November '06

Our demonstration night at Avalon was a great success. Aaron tested the new race engine with fellow racer Daryl Hickson in the Murray Atkin owned 16 car. The demonstration allowed Aaron to get some practice laps in before the Summer Slam on the 18th November. The new motor is fantastic, and thanks must go the David & Carol Baines of Baines Engines for our great new powerplant.

Aaron To Race Baines Engine

Aaron and his crew are very excited to be racing a motor built by David Baines of Baines Engines for the 06/07 season. The last few seasons have seen Aaron have much engine trouble and he is certainly looking forward to testing out this new piece of machinery. Aarons talents and his crews efforts will only be accentuated by this new engine.
