Aaron and his parents Kelvin and Julie have followed speedway for around 28 years, and, after having sponsored Rob Rankin and Charles Hunters sprintcars for quite some time they decided it was time to buy a car and go racing themselves. So the search for a suitable car for Aaron to start his race career in began. As he had never raced any form of speedway before, there were many questions to be answered, to make sure the right decision was made. After consultation with friend and fellow racer, six times Australian V8 Dirt Modified Champion Stuart Herne, a car was found in Lismore NSW. Aaron began racing in the 2003-2004 race season. The first season was a learning experience for Aaron and the whole team, which consisted of the Kelvin, Julie, sister Jade and her fiancé’ Danny and friends Chris Sheaf and Brad Lowe. Aaron won the prestigious Rookie of the Year Award, B Grade Points Score and the team was presented with Best Presented Car and Crew. The season had been an overwhelming success. 2004-2005 saw Aaron start the season with some changes to the chassis of the car thanks to Brad Marr of BM Engineering and a brand new motor, plus some other new equipment. The team also purchased a 40’Trailer that was completely refurbished to include sleeping and cooking facilities to transport the car around. After a few minor problems, and the inclusion of fellow racer Scott Whiting to the team, Aaron began what was to be an excellent season with a podium finish in the S.A Title at Borderline Speedway, Mt. Gambier. The 2005-2006 season began well, but motor problems plagued the team. After detonating an engine at Avalon, our engine builder Mick Hammond of Mick Hammond Performance Race Engines was once again building a new motor. Aaron has shown this season that he can mix it with the best and has consistently made the feature of all events raced.
